Lessons coordinator:
Join the orchestra
All players are welcome to join us regardless of skill level - there are no auditions. The goal is to have more experienced musicians come together with beginners or those that haven't played for a long time, creating a nurturing and teaching environment that helps each member to grow, learn, be inspired, and enjoy making music. Dust off that old instrument in the back of your closet, and come and join us!

Donations are used to help defray the cost of renting our rehearsal facility, purchasing music, and providing instruments, lessons and equipment for those that cannot afford them.
OK, let's deal with those excuses!

"I don't have an instrument!"
Let us know, and we'll do our very best to get you one, even at no cost to you.

"My instrument needs fixing!"
Let us know, and we'll do our very best to get it fixed for you, even at no cost to you.

"I don't play an orchestral instrument!"
Can you hit things with sticks? Then we'll give you a job in the percussion section. Or perhaps you might like to learn to play an orchestral instrument? We can help you get an instrument and lessons - at a discounted rate, or even at no cost to you.

"I've only just started learning!" or "I've not played for years!"
Don't worry, we'll tailor your part to your ability. Most of the music we play is specially arranged for the skill levels of the players we have. If you have only just started to learn your instrument and want a little bit of time to master the basics, we can give you a job in the percussion section until you feel ready. Plus, we hold a beginners' class during each rehearsal, in a separate room.

Have we convinced you yet? If you're still not sure, why not come and visit us at one of our rehearsals? Visitors are always welcome.

Ready to join us?

  • Fill in the short form below to let us know you're coming, and so we can add you to the mailing list.
  • We'll print a set of parts for you. If you want to check them out beforehand, you can find them in our online music folder . If any part seems difficult to you, most of our pieces have a separate folder with simplified parts - you can print them out if you want to use any of them, or let us know and we'll print them for you.

  • Please pull your instrument out of the closet if you've not played it in a while, and make sure it's in playable condition. We'll be happy to help you with that if you need it.

  • See if you can track down a music stand you can bring with you to use. If you can't find one, let us know and we'll get you one.
